What is an entrepreneur?
As they say, 'The beginning is always the best place to start', but what if you do not know where the beginning is?
On a forum I am a regular member of the there was a thread that was started that has become quite an interesting debate - is all about:
What is an entrepreneur?
It all started by a reference from a member who does not believe that affiliate marketers can be classified as entrepreneurs as they are sales people. I think there is some credibility in that statement, but I think it is very generic and formulaic.
An entrepreneur is a person who operates a new enterprise or venture and assumes some responsibility for the risks involved. (Source: Wikipedia.com)
I know there are different definitions of an entrepreneur and this is what makes the definition of an entrepreneur so difficult.
My perception of an entrepreneur is somewhat similar to the above definition. I think an entrepreneur is:
Someone who has creative ideas and take risks and responsibilities in relation to those ideas usually with the goal of creating wealth.
This is just my personal opinion, so do not bring me down, but it made me think really matter who or what is defined as an entrepreneur? I mean, if a person starts a business selling shoes and IPO floats away, walk away with a well-padded back pocket - good on him. And if a young person, creates a strategy to make money promoting affiliate programs through your blog, website or even with PPC - then his new venture would be a success and I would give him the credit he deserves.
I think that attention should not be on 'I am an entrepreneur and you're not'. We should be more focused on our plans - whatever they are, and put our effort into them....
