Offshore Outsourcing
Some companies contract their activities or part of their work to other companies located in foreign countries. This is called business process outsourcing. Offshore outsourcing has become a very feasible trend for companies that are expanding or just trying to reduce their overheads.
It makes good economic sense to outsource activities in a developing country. Developing countries like India have the human resources to conduct business, but can not have the capital for the establishment of huge infrastructure. These off-shore countries are usually willing to do business at a fraction of the cost, as they pay their employees less and also have a simpler structure of tax payments. This result leads to the outsourcing company.
Another advantage is that the part of the outsourcing business (which may be selling, telemarketing, research, etc.) is no longer the concern of outsourcing companies. The offshore company takes its own experts and professionals. This creates a division of the constructive work becomes fruitful for both outsourcing companies and offshore companies.
Outsourcing can be a way for a company to establish roots in a foreign country in which you can think of expansion. So, a company may outsource its business to a company in India to understand the Indian market and to qualify the prevailing Indian customer. This may be a ploy to eventually open a subsidiary in India. Huge conglomerates that are constantly expanding to opt for outsourcing as a method of inquiry rather than as a method for collecting the most business.
There are some dangers for outsourcing. One of the most important is the exposure of sensitive data to foreign countries. It can not be just the issue of data - organizational tactics, secrets and even managerial strategies may be exposed, which could prove harmful to the parent company. There are also risks relating to restrictions and laws in the country unlike off-shore that sometimes require changes in corporate policies. Outsourcing is also responsible for the gap created between the company and employer of workers. This discourages employers to build a good relationship with its employees.
However, if a company has properly assessed its limits, then outsourcing may have a business sense. It can also provide the dynamism of the economy of a developing country .......
