Sites based on images and search rankings
Your site will rely heavily on images? Having trouble getting a decent search engine ranking or even properly listed? That is one reason why this could be occurring and what can be done about it.
It 's important to understand that search engine robots (aka spiders), which are the animals used by research companies to index the web, can not "read" the text-based images. If you have the bulk of the text embedded in images, it is depriving the spiders of search engines for ranking based on valuable forage.
If you are not up to redesign the entire site to get around the problem, there are some things you can do that may help: the first is the use of tags "alt".
Here's an example of image code with the attribute "alt"
Keep the key phrase until a few relevant words - not groped jam paragraphs of text in the alt. If the image links to another page, the phrase should be connected to what is on the landing page.
If you are a user of FrontPage, the alt text can be easily added by right clicking on the image while in Edit mode, select "Image Properties" and then entering the text in the "text" in "alternative representations".
Another must for any site, and in particular those who have little actual text, are unique title tag, description and keywords meta tags for each page. This is extremely important if you use the same tag for every page, you can certainly cause damage ranking.
Despite having done all, the site will never reach its full potential rankings of view, so if you can, try to add the actual text of each page - at least 200 words, and perhaps even at the bottom. These blocks must be unique for each page and not just a bunch of keywords, but full of information about keywords is also useful for human readers .......
