Internet Marketing Strategies - Part Four: Writing effective sales copy
A professional looking web site is a very important part of making sales. However, without effective sales copy your website will be useless. Words do not make sales, fancy websites.
Your words are the foundation of all your activities. The product, your site and your marketing strategies all depend on your words. You must learn to write persuasive words specifically written for the customer focused. You must feel your customers needs and write your copy with passion, enthusiasm and benefit.
The text should be written in black, legible font with a light background. Avoid using fancy fonts or backgrounds that will make your text hard to read. When you begin writing, write in small blocks of text with a space between each block. There is nothing that will make your visitor clicks faster than a sea of black text, so be sure to use plenty of white space.
Start your sales letter with a strong title that requires attention. This title is the most important part of your sales letter. If you do not capture the attention of your potential customer, they do not bother to read the rest of your letter. The header must be viewed in a larger font in bold and require the attention of the prospect of intrigue to read.
Use subheadings (titles) throughout your letter caught the attention of those who simply scan the text. Your subheadings should provide highlights of each section of the sales letter and be displayed in a larger, bold type.
After capturing the attention of potential customers with your powerful title, you should now direct their attention to your introduction. Write a short paragraph about the product to let them know exactly what you have to offer them. Keep your introduction short and to the point, no filler content.
After writing his introduction, continue to write and tell your potential customer why your product is the solution to their problem. Tell them exactly how the product will benefit them. Identifying specific problems and promote your product as the solution. This can be accomplished with the use of questions that identify a specific problem that the product solve. Your questions potential customers who know they can identify with - listen to their needs.
Every phrase, word and title should have a specific purpose - to lead your potential customer to your order page. When writing your sales copy, direct your words towards a specific person. Use words like "you" and "your" versus "them" or "them". Write as if you're talking to one person - one on one. Write to persuade, that's the bottom line.
Use the following formula in which to write your sales letter site:
A - Attention - Use a title that requires a strong focus
I - Interest - Intrigue interest and create curiosity
D - Detail - Provide details about your product or service
A - Action - Call for Action
Many Internet users are concerned when it comes to making a purchase on the Internet. You must put their minds at ease, showing your name, company name and contact information. In addition, you must completely remove the risk. Provide your potential customers with a solid, no risk, money back guarantee. This will put their minds at ease by building their confidence in you and your product. Also, include some of your testimonials in your sales letter. Be sure not to create a separate page for your testimony, as it most likely will not be read. Place your testimonials throughout your sales letter to ensure their visibility.
Studies have shown that long sales copy out-sells short sales copy. However, some visitors will prefer a short sales letter. To accommodate both types of preferences, you can provide both. For visitors who prefer a short sales letter, provide opportunities to click through to your sales page for the entire sales letter.
When writing a long sales letter, keep in mind that with each additional click, you lose a percentage of your potential customers. Have you ever read a sales letter page that forced you to click through several pages to continue reading your sales letter? Many Internet users find it very frustrating and just a click away. Try to keep your sales letter all on one page for best results. The visitors would probably be much better scroll a long sales letter than click through and load another page. Their time is very precious - receive them.
Once you've written your sales letter and packed with all the benefits of the product has to offer, the next step will be to "call for action." Ask for the order and to ensure an easy process of ordering. Continue to reassure your potential customer, reminding them of the guarantee and bring them to your order page.
For potential customers who are not yet convinced, provide them with free bonuses just for purchasing the product. Many times, you find that your customers buy the products only for the free bonuses.
Your last step will be to close the sales letter with a PostScript. When your visitor scans your sales message, chances are, I read the title, subtitle and your PostScript message. Put your most important benefits in your PS message. You will get read.
Write your words so that flow seamlessly from beginning until title to the ordering page. Pack your copy with all the benefits of the product has to offer and keep things simple. The simple, well-designed sites with great abundance make sales .......
